<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> So many responses asked what cider I used, I decided I'd better post it to the list! I get Woodpecker brand. It seems to be available in just about every liquor store/dept that I know, in the Baltimore Maryland USA area. I find it in the refrigerated area where they keep the beer, usually. It's imported to the USA from England by Guinness. I see Woodchuck--made in Vermont--a lot too, and it is also gf, according to Scott Adams' Celiac Support webpages (http://www.celiac.com/products.html#Alcohol ). He also lists : Old Deadly Cider, and Wyder's Ciders (from Canada, imported to the U.S. by Claymore Beverages, 42 Mars, San Francisco, CA 94114-1828) in Apple, Pear, and Peach. (but he says that Hornsby Draft Cider is NOT gluten-free.) Two listmembers shared similar experiences. Bev said: <quote>Same thing happens to me, but at home. Reached in the frig for a nice cold diet Coke. Took a big drink & then tasted what I had. At first I thought the nutrisweet had gone bad. Then I reaslized it actually tasted like beer instead--in 17 years, I'd kind of forgotten what beer tasted like. YIKES!! Someone had rearranged the shelves. Fortunately, I didn't get sick either. Bigger problem is past had been testing noodles to see if they were done & forgetting I had wheat noodles in the pot. Problem easy to solved--husband cooks his own. Never to long on the g.f. diet to screw up. Can't be mindless for a minute.<end quote> And Brown Rice said:<quote>I am the only one with CD in my family and one time when I was cooking regular gluten spagetti noodles for the family, it was just a habit of mine to test if it was done and I accidently put the spagetti in mouth. EEKKK! I ran to the sink and was spitting it out and washing my mouth out with water. I know just how you felt when you put the beer in your mouth.<end quote> Linda has been gf since December, and sorely misses beer, especially with Mexican food & pizza. She asked how long it took before I stopped missing beer. Well, I STILL miss what I remember about beer after 2 years gf, but that mistaken taste sure took the temptation out of trying any! Enjoy your cider! Bobbi in Baltimore MD USA
