I have seen Windows Protection Errors for ten or twelve different reasons. Some of them have only been fixed with a re-install. One thing that has caused a few that I have seen is the processor overheating. Check the heatsink/fan to see if they are fully against the processor. It could also be a bad M/B or a bad registry entry in Win 95. Has Win 95 been reinstalled? If so was it a clean install? I am running Win 95 on a PII-450 with no problems so it is not a timing issue. Unless others have heard different.... -Rob >I'm getting a "windows protection error" when I boot up my machine. It is >sporadic, and doesn't happen all the time. It is a new machine (AMD 350, >Win 95) that I built myself. >I am told by some sources that I can get a fix by upgrading the iosys file. >I did that, to no avail. Also, could this be a timing loop problem with >Windows 95? I hear that you cannot use Win95 on a processor over 350 mhz.
