I don't know if it's the best way, but all my doctors (GP, OB, and allergist) keep telling me to take Tums for extra calcium when I ask about it. There has also been previous discussion about the antacid property causing digestive disruption because it will lower the acidity too much (and I'm sure this will come up again in this discussion :-) I questioned one of my doctors (an OB) about this and his response was that Tums is a pretty crummy antacid, so don't worry about it. That's just the info I have. Others may have different info.
