Hello, My desktop is a HP Pavilion running with Windows 98 and I bought it for its 'expanding possibilities' as announced. It has in fact 5 free slots to insert cards. It is a reasonable good fast PC. When I now plucked in my first card (SCSI for an adaptec device ), big surprise: the computer tells me that there is no IRQ available and that I should free some around here. (?!?) I did then sacrificate my MIDI device on IRQ 9, and use it for SCSI, but the system keeps on reminding me that I shouldn't do that. As I understand, Windows 98 is taking care of all the interrupts for it's plug'n play cards, or something like that. Isn't this amazing? Having 5 free slots and not being able to use them in a normal way as in the good times when you just could plug anything in yout motherboard without problems! Is there a way to get around this barrier? or what can I do? Could any utility software help? Any hardware? My attempts to ask HP or Microsoft have been unsuccessful. Thanks for any idea on the subject Joel Vandroogenbroeck PCBUILD's List Owner's: Bob Wright<[log in to unmask]> Drew Dunn<[log in to unmask]>
