<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> My wife has been gluten free for 20 years, after being mis-diagnosed for ten years previously. She was down to 80 lbs when they finally got it right. While see was incredibly tired, and weak her only obvious symptoms were unformed pale loose stool. She has been incredibly disciplined ever since. She has however, occasionally ingested gluten through condiments such as soy sauce, ketchup, chicken stock powder and ice cream with no apparent negative effects. On at least two occassions she has had a violent attack of nausea, explosive diarrhea, fainting and seizure( she does tend to have a seizure whenever she faints, for whatever reason. Fortunately, not very often). She always assumes that she has ingested an unknown source of gluten since these episodes have happened soon after eating. I suspect it is food poisoning since she never had these violent reactions when she consumed large quantities of French bread traveling in France before being diagnosed, for example. One of her violent reactions was however preceded by eating a supposedly gluten "lite" pumpernickel sandwich as an experiment. Was it the pumpernickle or was it what was in the sandwich? Anyone have any thoughts on this pattern of reaction? Jerry
