I'm having an email conversation with a strict vegetarian, and he's raised
the old argument that our intestinal length in relation to body weight is
more similar to herbivores than to carnivores. I remember reading this
first in "Fit For Life" a long time ago, then later reading a rebuttal that
pointed out that we actually are more similar to other omnivores
anatomically - but I've forgotten the rationale used. It seems you can use
intestine length versus body weight, trunk length, intestine/colon length,
and prove just about anything you want. I know Ray talks about gut ratio
(large/small intestine). Does anyone have any more input about that
intestine length/body weight argument?
