Suddenly, I cannot connect through either Outlook 98 or IE4.01 to the
internet (running Win 95B). When I try to send and receive mail through
OL98, the modem dials and connects, and then gives the messages "The SMTP
server name you specified cannot be found. Please check the name and try
again [with a box displaying the smtp name allowing me to change it and
click 'OK']" Same for the POP server name. When I try to connect via
IE4.01, I get a "Navigation cancelled" screen for my home page and the error
message "An internal error occurred in the Windows Internet extensions."

Problem: the SMTP, POP, DNS etc. settings are all correct. I have
removed and reentered the info both for the DUN connection to my ISP and
for the Internet E-mail service using my ISP -- no joy. ISP operator
reports no problems at their end.

Is there something in the registry or elsewhere I can tweak rather than
doing a full uninstall/reinstall of IE 4.01 and Outlook98?

Because I am off the Web (I am sending this via Hyperterminal and my shell
account), I cannot
access the Knowledge Base, so the list's help would be much appreciated!!
