I am in need of powerful, persusive arguments against facadism... we are
facing the loss of our community's most significant structure, an 1851
Italianate hotel building -- where a new building is proposed to be
constructed inside the shell of the original (at least where visible). Get
this --- it is actually proposed that the outside windows have muntins but no
glass!

The building is question has been on the National Register for almost 25
years, and the non-profit developer is planning to use preservation tax
credits.

Would someone please also kindly copy this message onto the NTHP Forum
listserve! Thanks a million.
