James, This is a common problem reported on Corel's dedicated news groups. See these articles in the Corel Knowledge Base. Installing Windows Messaging In Windows 98 http://kb.corel.com/cws8032/WP80WIN/WP80WIN_18411.htm Windows Messaging Update & Windows 98 http://kb.corel.com/cws8032/WP80WIN/WP80WIN_18694.htm Install Loops Back: Install Windows Messaging Update http://kb.corel.com/cws8032/WP80WIN/WP80WIN_14846.htm Need to Update Windows Messaging System Win 98 http://kb.corel.com/cws8032/WP80WIN/WP80WIN_18117.htm The short answer is: Install Windows Messaging from the root of the Corel CD or the Windows 98 CD. Details: 1. The location for Windows Messaging on the Corel CD is: x:|corel|suite 8|appman|setup|winmess|exupdusa.exe 2. The location for windows messaging on the Windows 98 CD is: x:|tools|oldwin95|ms.exe (where x is the drive letter for your CD ROM drive) Note : All other Windows 95 components are also located here such as Power Toys. But note that: The Windows Messaging Update (EXUPDUSA.EXE) is only available with WordPerfect 8 build 225 or higher. If WordPefect 8 build 153 is being installed under Windows 98, the Windows Messaging Update will not be available. It can be found on the Windows 98 CD-Rom under a new name at :\Tools\Oldwin95\Message\Us\WMS.EXE. It can also be obtained at the Microsoft FTP site at: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/EXUPDUSA.EXE. The last two articles in the list above explain how to copy the needed file (mapiXX.dll) directly. Folks on the news groups report that they have had better luck updating from the Win98 CD directly. --- Paula Ford PCSOFT only works if you contribute.
