Sounds to me like you have a ground loop. You can get something called a
'ground breaker' for your CATV cable. It will break the ground loop
which causes 60Hz humming in your speakers.

  The reasoning is this: There is no 'perfect' ground, so each major
circuit has its own. Your CATV ground may be located 200 meters away
from your home, but your AC ground is about 5 meters away. If there is a
very small difference in the voltages, you have a circuit, and the most
noticeable result is 'speaker hum.' I have noticed this in many houses.
If you ever install car radios, you will see it there, too. Same reason.
