The main thing to know is what do you plan on doing with it?  For
gameing I suggest Intel.  If you will be doing just basic word
processing you can you any of the three that you want.

Will you want to upgrade this machine in the future?  If so and you go
with the a PII board make sure it will support the 100MHz bus.  I
purchased the Asus PII BX board.  I checked yesterday and this board was
about $189.  Judging from the jumpers on the board you should be able to
go to about 800MHz for a chip.  If you are looking to upgrade you might
want to buy the PC100 memory now so you won't have to throw out your
memory when you upgrade your chip.

I don't usually recommend going with cheap, you get what you pay for.
For modems I only use 3Com/US Robotics and not their WinModem.  The
WinModem is cheaper, but not worth the problems it can cause you.
