I take nutritional supplements, including trace minerals,
calcium/magnesium, various vitamins, and a few herbs such as Gingko
Biloba.

I do this because of the following reasons:

1. There is no genetic pay-off for old age. The body is designed to age
(most animals and plants age) and this is for a reason. Much of age is
correlated with increased lipid peroxidation and other free radical
damage. The supplements act as natural medicines to cut down on this
damage. Hopefully I will live longer or at least will be healthier.

2. The fruits, veggies and meat we get is not nutritionally complete or
equivalent to what we would have gotten prior to modern agricultural
practices. That whole bit about depleted soils, etc. Why take chances
with food that looks great but is nutritionally incomplete?

Ray in his book dismisses supplements. But I don't agree.

So what do y'all do? What do y'all think?
