Thank you for your response.  I probably used the word "preservation" too
strongly.  These images are outdoors and exposed to direct sunlight, heav=

rain and wind.  They probably failed completely 20 years ago and I'm tryi=
ng
to save what little remains of the original paint.  Forgive my ignorance,
but would an application of thinned shellac be applied on top of or in li=
eu
of a sealer coat, and do you think it would hold up under these weather
conditions?   (XIM 400 is a VMP naptha solvent based sealer.)
