<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hello all , I am sorry that it has taken me so long to answer all of your questions about My sister. but here they are. She was diagnosed with celiac 18 years ago after her first daughter was born. At that time they didn't know much about the disease so they told her to cut down on her gluten intake but she didn't have stop eating it all together. After 10 years and finally seeing a Celiac specialist she stopped eating gluten all together but by then the damage had already been done. Her lymphoma started in her small intestine. It was only found because she had a blockage all of her blood tests for cancer came back negative. They started her on chemo and but it didn't do anything. They found this out when they removed a second blockage. Then I was time for the bone marrow transplant. Alot of people asked me if because my brother was a perfect match for a bone marrow transplant did he have celiac too. The answer is no he didn't and he found this out through a biopsy. Also alot of people asked me whether or not her lymphoma was a direct cause of her celiac and the answer to that is yes it was. Because she continued to eat gluten and therefore continued to damage her intestines and bowels. There were alot of people who didn't believe that the celiac disease could cause lymphoma but if you read up on it you will see that it if you continue to eat gluten after being diagnosed with celiac your chances of getting lymphoma are greatly increased. One last thing my mother died of the same disease 9 years ago due to undiagnosed celiac. She had 4 children and my sister Amy was the only one to get celiac disease the rest of us have been tested. Amy's daughter also has it. I got so many responses I am sorry that I could not reply to you individually. If you have a specific question about my sister and I can answer it would be more than happy to do so on an individual basis. Just have patience it may take me a while. Thank you so much for all your prayers and sympathy I got over notes I printed them out and my sister's daughter and family was so touched and so was I. Stay GF Beth
