<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Dear list I am off to Bangkok and Hong Kong. The Coeliac Society in UK produce a translation sheet in French Spanish which I use in restaurants to ensure that the food I am served is gluten-free. Unfortunately they do not have Thai of Cantonese in their repertoire! Can any one please translate the following for me? 'I have an illness called Coeliac disease and have to follow a strict gluten-free diet' 'I may therefore become very ill if I eat food containing the flours or grains of wheat, rye, barley and oats' 'Does this food contain the flour or grains of wheat, rye, barley or oats?' 'If you are uncertain about what the food contains, please tell me' 'I can eat food containing rice, maize, potatoes, all kinds of vegetables and fruit, eggs, cheese, milk, meat and fish - as long as they are not cooked with wheat flour, batter, bread crumbs or sauce'. 'Thank you for your help' ____________________________________________ John O'Donoghue Voice: +44 (0) 1902 323854 FAX: +44 (0) 1902 323960 Mobile: 0468 972428 Wolverhampton Business School University of Wolverhampton Shropshire Campus Telford TF2 9NT Electronic Mail: [log in to unmask] ____________________________________________
