Make sure that you back up your >registry before making any changes to it. Las ! It is not so easy. No "NO IDE" key there & anywhere in the registry. Moreover, I fully disconnect the Quantum HDD (PIO4) (slave Primary) and the CD-ROM DW BCD24X (ATAPI) (Master Secondary). So, just remains the Seagate HDD (UDMA2) (Master Primary). Do you know what ? The problem still subsists. Then without reconnecting anything, I tried to delete PCI IDE controller then, after reboot, the pb comes back. Then, I look in C:\WINDOWS\IOS.LOG: The first two lines relates to the problem. They seem to relate to both FAT16 partitions of the remaining Seagate HDD and look something (I don't remember exactly terms) like this: Unit 02 is configured to run with a real mode driver Unit 03 is configured to run with a real mode driver Then some lines about himem.sys, then some lines about ifshlp.sys and setver.exe. Those drivers are not present in CONFIG.SYS. CONFIG.SYS just has a line for country & AUTOEXEC.BAT has a line SET BLASTER=... That's all ! In Device configuration, there are no driver attached to PCI IDE controller, and whenever I try to add either the Intel Bus Master or the Double IDE/ESDI controller driver, the system hangs. There are absolutely no exclamation mark anywhere in Device configuration. All along those tests, I can always run (but slowly, of course !) all drives attached (HDD, CDROM) without any pb. Is there anything to do with BIOS 1.05 configuration ? PCI 2.1 mode is enabled (even disabled, the pb subsists). Any idea ? Thanks for answer Philippe
