I had a similar experience! My daughter had severe eczema by the time
she was 2 months old. The pediatrician gave us some samples of Eucerin
Light that did not have the full ingredient labeling on it. It contains
Sodium Lactate. I did not find this out until I bought a tub at the
store. Around the same time, we determined that the problems all stemmed
from dairy. When I realized that the cream contained a dairy ingredient,
I questioned the doc and got a response that it was OK because that was
only the enzyme and I only need to be concerned with proteins.

I now know this is not true, but fortunately, the cream seems to be OK
for us to use. We also don't have problems with anaphalaxis
