As luck would have it, Alyssa's eczema was doing much better by the time we got to see the doctor on Monday. She didn't call me a kook, but tried to stress that it "was probably something else because they give milk allergic kids amoxicillin all the time." Yeah, OK, I wasn't in the mood to argue the point. We could not figure out why she started clearing up since we were still giving her the amox. Then we realized that coincident with starting the amoxicillin, we also bought a different drug store brand of Triaminic and started using it. We pretty much stopped giving it to her Friday night and when I did, I used the bottle we had left at home. So this was now the suspect. Monday night, Alyssa starts running a fever and is congested again. So, we give her the suspect brand of decongestant as a trial. After 2 doses she's spitting up and miserable and can't sleep. Culprit found. I don't know what could possibly be in there except maybe the citrus flavoring. This was actually the 4th brand that we bought over the past few weeks to treat our colds. Turns out she was not only getting it from me, but mainlining it which is probably why she broke out so quickly and severly before. All the different brands listed pretty much the same ingredients and no suspicion of dairy from any of them. Carefully scrutinizing everything both of us ingest still isn't really enough to keep out hidden dairy. Who'd-a-thunk-it? Kathy
