Toni, Please read the following web pages. I don't believe that heart disease is an "auto-immune" disease as much as it is probably an immune system reaction to the damage we are doing to our bodies with trans-fats and sugar. http://www.solgar.com/nutrition_library/articles/enig1_interview.html http://www.solgar.com/nutrition_library/articles/enig2_interview.html http://www.solgar.com/nutrition_library/articles/enig3_interview.html http://www.afpafitness.com/TRANFAT.HTM Also, pick up a copy of "Sugar Blues" by William Dufty. If you can get him to read it, it'll really open his eyes. Another good book to read it "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution". Both books refer to the fact that heart disease was largely unheard of until this century. And our forebears ate a hell of a lot more meat than we do. What they didn't eat was margarine, vegetable oils, anything "hydrogenated", or nearly as much sugar. I have a question that I hope someone can help me with...my father is in his 60's and recently had a heart attack and then as a result had a triple bipass for clogged arteries in his heart. His cholesterol was quite high (I think 9 or 10). Since the day he returned home from hospital he will not eat meat!!! Because he says all meat contains cholesterol. He is wasting away and there is nothing my mother or myself can do to change his mind, to vary his diet, he will only eat lentils, veges, etc. In one of the postings someone stated that heart disease was an auto immune disease. My mother and I have the same theory now, but can't base it on any fact, just feeling. We would love it if someone could: 1. Help us with Dad's diet. 2. Give us any information on heart disease being an auto immune disease, eg any research, books, web sites, etc. We would be most grateful. Toni
