I use a similar method, except that I use a nutcracker, and have a "nut pick"
that is similar to a dental pick (but larger and duller), that I use to
separate the nut from the shell parts that cling. It is tedious work.
So, unfortunately, I don't have any easy way to shell them. Never tried
freezing them first - that might make the shell more brittle, while the
nut meat (due to oil content) stays together. Those who don't object to
freezing, might want to try it. (I will eventually try it.)
