<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Well, I finally got a doctor to agree to do the blood test and now I'm worried about getting a "false negative". I keep reading that I will need to be on a gluten diet for a month to get good results. Unfortunately, I have been following the GF diet for 20 days, with 2 relapses (1 was intentional 12 days ago and the other from stupididty -soy sauce - 10 days ago) I am wondering what the blood test will show? Also, and I'm sure this sounds crazy, but I found some canned gluten in the Chinese grocery (it's some kind of speciality) and I was wondering if I were to eat a few cans of this on Saturday/Sunday if I would have the IG-response by Monday (to assure a good test) Or maybe I could eat a few dozen donuts! The problem for me is that I had about 50% letup in symptoms after following the diet -- not enough to say, 'oh yeah, gluten was definitely the problem' and yet too much to abondon the idea completely. Of course if I come up negative then I'm up for the entire GI-hell (upper GI, barium, sigmoidoscopy, etc. etc. etc.) and I've already been told that gas, although "annoying" and "socially embarassing" is not a "real" problem. In other words, they'll be happy to torture me, but don't hold out for an actual diagnosis (much less a cure!) Well, any advice on the speed of gluten-response, or blood-test stories will be much appreciated.
