<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> I wondered what bentonite was too, and mentioned it to my husband last night. He looked startled, and said it was a kind of clay used to line landfills (he works for the Maryland St. Dept. of the Environment, and spent several years in Solid Waste Management). He said it is so fine and packs so hard that it prevents leakage of waste materials into the groundwater if properly applied. He couldn't imagine why anyone would take it internally, although he opined that it might block up the intestines pretty good. Perhaps it would deter absorption of the gluten if taken promptly?
