<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> I have before me a booklet called "Gluten Intolerance: The widespread genetic defect that can cause arthritis, enteritis, schizophrenia and other health problems." It is part of a series by Keats Publishing, Inc. in New Canaan, Connecticut, USA. It seems a fair book as far as it goes but there's one statement I'd like to run past the MDs on the list: "...Celiacs of all ages who have maintained a gluten-free diet for long periods, and then foolishly revert to eating gluten-containing foods, risk para-anaphylactic shock." This statement seems to me to be patent nonsense since it is my understanding we are not talking, here, about an =allergic= reaction but about an =immune response=. Is there any risk of anaphylactic shock? Linda
