Thanks Bamba Laye. Glad you like the poem. It is indeed about the mind-boggling realities of our times, two of which you have mentioned. One that particularly worries me is the sad silence and willful blindness that characterize our society - people's incapacity and/or refusal to see, acknowledge, recognize, appreciate, support, or encourage other people with whom they share identical interests and ostensibly pursue identical objectives (Noble thoughts swallowed / So Ignoble wins the day). Or, as I put it in another context, "Beauty would rather be ugly / Than see itself in the mirror."
