That doesn't sound remotely reasonable for a C:\ partition that contains only the operating system, registry and installed programs. Are you sure it is ONLY the C:\ partition that is being imaged and not the entire computer?

Some items you could check:

1. What is the size of the used portion on your C: partition? How does 216 GB compare to that?
Usually the C: partition is not that large.

2. Are you cleaning out things like the recycle bin, temporary files, and internet detritus before imaging?

3. You can disable "hiberfil.sys" before the backup and reenable it afterwards (if you use it at all)

4. Are you including the Paging File in the image? I think that is "pagefil.sys", off the top of my head.
You can re-locate the pagefile on it's own tiny partition so it won't be involved in the image of C:.

5. With some email clients, you can re-locate your email 'store' (dbx files) to your documents partition. This has the added advantage of not overwriting your emails if you need to restore an earlier image. There are other apps that will allow you to re-locate YOUR related data (files you create with the application) on a different partition - same advantage applies as with email; your folders/files won't get clobbered if you restore an earlier image.

6. The Amount of Image Compression affects SIZE of image file, but has adverse effect on TIME.

7. The Proportion of Resources devoted to the backup affects the TIME required.
(I set mine on high/maximum resources and don't use the PC until it is finished)

8. Do you have it set to "backup everything, including unused sectors" (increases SIZE of image as well as TIME required).

Hope you get it worked out,

Subject: [PCSOFT] System Image

I have a Win7 64 bit computer with a 2 TB HD. I have it split into two
partitions C which has all my programs, and D which has all my data.

I did a System Image of my C drive to another installed drive. It was 216
GB. It took about 14 hour to create. That seems very long. Is this
normal?

I've done it in the past and don't remember it taking this long.

By the way, I've had to restore from a system image and it worked like a
charm.
