There you go again Kukeh. Who told you I've ever been a Jula?????? And if you see value in an idea and it interests you, why not reach out to me for partnership in creating a solution. Julaya is commerce. Not all ideas are commercially viable. Those that are should be properly exploited, with an eye toward value-added endeavour.

What is wrong with you Kukeh? Let's continue this conversation in private with our other cousin Demba. Perhaps the three of us can magically create a viable enterprise that can help the griot tradition flourish and benefit humankind. At the concept phase, you should not worry about whether an idea is commercially-viable. I think you're a Jula-wannabe Kukeh. A closet-Jula!!!!!! Ky, don't even think about it.

Haruna.

To prevent the Griot tradition from dying, their music needs to be written and passed down in a structured setting. This will also enable other folk who are musically-inclined but are not born into griot families can become griots if they so desire. Ace, I think you should seriously consider developing the griot tradition to higher heights. Right now if I want to be a griot, I got no chance in hell of becoming one. And playing soccer makes you uncoordinated for griot work.

Haruna. Wondering out loud.

I think whatever they use to hold the trunk of the kora, somebody should make a belt for it with a buckle holder so it can be worn outside of the grand bubus. This is serious business you know.

Nice Galleh. You looked great. You almost blended in the wall behind you. I'm glad I wasn't jinkoying. And you're losing your babyface fast Galleh. I don't know if I like these universities too tough.

On a serious note though Galleh, did you realize Niang suffered a fire that nearly consumed his entire library and some important works? President Conde' has promised to make this library whole again though. Good news. Don't know if its the same Niang you spoke of.

I'm still viewing the program. Just thought I'd share.

Haruna.

Hello Friends,

I thought I should share this Youtube video on a Gambian griot performance at Creighton University. Alhaji Pappa Suso, accompanied by balafon player Bala Kuyateh, was invited to the Creighton campus by the Uniersity's Black Studies Program as part of activities marking Black History Month. I was asked to give the introductory remarks explaining the role of the griot in Mande society.
