icoms been one of the most active of the amateur radio companies in regards
to HF transceivers of late.
They've got the IC7000, 7200, 7600, 7700 and the 7800. all come equipped
with speech or have the optional UT102 synth that can be installed.
I suppose yaesu has been fairly active too with the ft2000, dx5000, ft9000
and ft450 all in the past few years.
the FT450 has built in speech and reads S meter, mode and frequency...it's a
very nice little radio.
Kenwood is the only company in the business who hasn't come out with a new
HF transceiver since the ts480.
hopefully they come out with a mobile all mode all band rig later this year
or next year.
The new kenwood rig that is supposed to be unvailed at daton is an HF only
radio, something to rival the expensive icom and yaesu rigs.
I wouldn't be too surprised if its up in that 3000 to 8000 dollar range like
the high end Icoms and yaesu's are.
