Sheikh Haruna,

I think you are too harsh on our old grand Pa Wade who is far from being an idiot, he is simply a master politician performing his art.

That said, I believe the overwhelming majority of Haitians would still prefer their close proximity to the US of A rather than relocate to Senegal.

Laye, this idiot Wade never seizes to amaze me. Can any human being seek publicity so much as Wade is wont to do? On the face of it, this sounds like the greatest humanitarian declaration an African has ever made but on closer scrutiny, it represents the greatest connerie I've ever heard both from a humanitarian level and on Public policy grounds.

Haitians have a nation called Haiti. They fought for the independence of their country and achieved a landmark feat. This was a natural disaster requiring solidarity of Africans and all the world with Haiti just like we have done for Pakistan, Indonesia, the Maldives, Japan, Turkey, Iran, Bangladesh, Gambia, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and all other land masses and peoples who witness and will continue to witness natural disasters. By this declaration, Wade demonstrates his short-sightedness in appreciating the value of sending a medical or other relief team to Haiti to help them through their time of need. It indicates Wade's total mental delinquency.

No Haitian has expressed a desire to be resettled in another nation of their own neither are they clamouring to resettle in Senegal. If Wade really is sincere about helping Haiti and Haitians, he would afford those Haitians currently in sojourn or living in Senegal full Senegalese citizens. That way Haitians could determine for themselves if they wish to jettison their citizenship of Haiti or maintain dual citizenship. As they work and enjoy freedom in Senegal, they can repatriate their earned income to Haiti to rebuild and better harness Haiti's natural resources. The cacamayme of some Africans is to behold. Just like the statue of African Renaissance, he is calling now for the abandonment of Haiti by Haitians so the colonizers can stand their flags by sheer default of connerie. What armies were not able to do, Wade's cluelessness will hand them on a silver platter. I cannot believe my ears. I suppose when Senegal has a flood disaster, Africa ought to create another Senegal elsewhere in Africa and abandon present day Senegal to the French. Indeed the French know how to avoid untold loss of life during floods and earthquakes and because Africans are not capable of living uncolonized, we ought to abandon our lands to others. This is the most idiotic declaration I've ever heard. Jesus friggin Christ. What is wrong with these people?????? You know every criminal and idiot President is sitting on the necks of their citizens hoping for a natural disaster or war to dispense with their unprosecuted crimes. Look under the hood every time they open their filthy mouths.
Haruna.

Senegal offers land for "returning" Haitians
Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:07am GMT

DAKAR (Reuters) - Senegal and other African nations should offer
victims of Haiti's earthquake the chance to resettle in the continent,
possibly in a newly created state of their own, the West African
nation has urged.

"Africa should offer Haitians the chance to return home. It is their
right. There is nothing to haggle about," President Abdoulaye Wade
said on his website.

Television images of black, French-speaking Haitians in distress have
touched a nerve across Francophone West and central Africa.

Wade said he would propose to the 53-nation African Union the creation
for Haitians of "their own state on African territory, the land of
their ancestors", according to the text of his proposal published in
local newspapers on Monday.

Local media quoted Senegalese officials as saying the country was
ready to offer parcels of fertile land to Haitians, many of whom are
still waiting for aid after Tuesday's earthquake believed to have
killed as many as 200,000.

The idea for a new state is reminiscent of the 19th century creation
of Liberia by freed U.S. slaves. The West African country is currently
recovering from a 1999 civil war and is hoping to benefit from recent
oil discoveries off its coast.

Wade argued that Haitians are the descendants of slaves and so had the
right to repatriation on the African continent. Senegal has also
pledged $1 million emergency aid and begun preparations for televised
fund-raising event.

The country of around 13 million straddles both the arid Sahel area
and the lusher region around its southern border.

While one of the more stable countries in West Africa, it suffers high
unemployment and acute deficiencies in basic infrastructure including
roads and electricity supply.

Wade, 83, has long portrayed himself on the world stage as a defender
of the poor, although his critics say that some of his schemes fail to
live up to expectations.

Democratic Republic of Congo, which has just been told by the
International Monetary Fund that its debt levels are fiscally
unsustainable, pledged $2.5 million aid at the weekend.
