Subject: [BP] Charitable Gifting

this in frm a BP subscriber that wishes to remain anonymously humble --

This Christmas, the [Smiths] will again donate 10% of their
cash-received to a mutally agreed-upon charitable endeavor - or, I hope,
up it to 20% - and we again invite the [Jones 1] and [Jones 2] to join
us.

In today's electronic New York Times I noted two stories which gave me
much food for thought, in terms of how grateful I am for my own personal
good fortune. The astonishing Nick Kristof published such a list of
likely projects, including surgery to correct obstetric fistula, which
makes miserable the lives of thousands of women every year, and
deworming, an mild-sounding condition which destroys educational
opportunities for kids around the world:

And Francis Clines wrote about the work of the Wounded Warrior Project,
which tries to help the families of soldiers with devastating,
family-destroying combat injuries.

For any problems I have, I know I - and all of us - are profoundly
lucky, and I mean multi-million-dollar-lottery-lucky, to be where we are
today.

With love,
