Looking into a 3" open split  at the bulge area and I can see into the cavity at the return
There is a  debris field of fallen chips and pieces resting inside  . we take 15 mins to clear that away
I checked with the charred wood conservators over on ConsDistList and they said you are an idolater and wasting society's resources, toss it out and get some new stuff at Home Depost and send the difference to CP in BC.
