Burkina Faso top Group B at U-17

Burkina Faso will play Algeria in the semi-finals

Burkina Faso narrowly beat Niger 1-0 to ensure they finished top of Group B at the African Under-17 Championship in Algeria.

But they left it late to get their victory with Adama Yabao scoring the only goal of the game in the 86th minute.

It means Burkina have won all three of their group games and will now play hosts Algeria in Sunday's semi-finals.

Niger had already qualified for the last four and will now face Group A winners Gambia in Sunday's other sem-final.

In the day's other Group B game Malawi salvaged some pride with an easy 5-0 win over Zimbabwe.

Andy Simukonda opened the scoring for Malawi eight minutes after half time.

The remaining four goals came in the final 10 minutes of the game with Robin Ngalande grabbing two while there was one each for Luke Milanzi and Akimu Phiri.

It was Malawi's first points at the event and leaves them third in the group.

Zimbabwe, with a squad made up of mainly high school students, finish the tournament without a single point or scoring a single goal and conceding 11 in their three games.
