(May depend whether it's a PS2, USB or wireless mouse.) 5. If USB, try another USB port just in case you have a bad port connection. 6. Since the problem is intermittent, I'd be more inclined to look for physical causes rather than registry/driver/software issues, though nothing's impossible.
