While the bullet-riddled corpse of a feral turkey lies stiff in a Chilmark
police freezer Why do the Chilmark police have a freezer big enough for a wild
turkey?, a fuller picture of its violent past on Old Ridge Road and the
surrounding neighborhood is emerging. Its future sounds a lot more...restrained.
Last month the turkey, known to whom? as Tom, was shot at point blank range
by a police officer the bastard! Was the turkey armed? I think not. after
allegedly attacking a couple of what? at 27 Old Ridge Road. A resident Fuck
him, too., claiming to have raised the turkey as his own, is then alleged to
have assaulted the officer. At the time many on the Island regarded it as an
isolated incident.Cockeyed optimists is what they are. Or were.
But fresh allegations issued by a group of neighbors at a recent Chilmark
selectmen’s meeting suggest Tom was head was this an elected or self-appointed
position? I think we need to know, and the police need to investigate. Maybe
Dept of Homeland Security, too. of a gang of violent turkeys roaming the
neighborhood and terrorizing residents.
“These turkeys don’t have boundaries,” said Stephanie daRosa, one of four
residents of Shadbush Hollow, a dirt path Needless to say, the avian turkeys
are not the only turkeys who don't have boundaries. Call a surveyor! Call the
highway department.......
