I don't think they would mind the material stuff you inherit as long as you don't get any financial reward from it...  For example, Ken and I both know the Roman Numeral St. Gaudens $20 gold pieces (or any St.Caudens) are almost priceless.  If your dad owned one and you inherited it and sold it, they could cut your check.  If you kept it as a remembrance of your father, they couldn't do anything to you because you didn't profit from it...
