I stand corrected. But no heat guns, plates, blowtorches, etc.  Ralph
I had a company in to strip all the mahogany paneling, doors (24!), baseboards and casing in my tragically abused 1910 apartment when we took it coop in 1978.  (Apartments there now = $4 million in some cases, although when I moved in it was half rooming houses.)

The company assured us that they were using non-flammable paint stripper, so we felt safe.  But one day the goop got into the electrical outlet, which was on, and a spark ignited not the paint stripper, but the paint itself.   Nasty, roaring fire, fully engulfed room, no one hurt.

The thing is the fire didn't take the rest of the paint off.   Must have put a lot of lead into the atmosphere, though.      Christopher
