Adrienne,

For a recently completed straw baler, check out this one by architect Henry Yorke Mann   http://www.henryyorkemann.com/salix.htm

I know Henry would be happy to speak with you.

A somewhat different approach to straw and architecture was by a Soleri apprentice-mate who had just married an Oklahoma girl and was going to live at her "Daddy's" big ranch.   After experiencing the Soleriesque task of earth forming for a concrete pour and then becoming a miner to remove the "soiled" centering, the newly married and naturally lethargic apprentice was determined to make the best of "Daddy's" ranch by using hay bales for centering a concrete dome, allowing the cattle to do the work of removing it during the next winter.

On that note, anyone ever build a straw bale structure?  I'm looking into building one to live in...
