Contempo buildings are designed to last for twenty to thirty years. Are
there any material warrantees for more than twenty years? This is why I go
to lectures by Zaha Hadid and Frank Gerry. Their stunning designs are the
structures that will need major restoration in the very near future. Since
the days of Mr. Wright, the design intent has had nothing to do with
structural integrity nor esoteric notions like keeping water out.

Best,

...being necessary to the "health" of a building, by protecting the parapets
and major drops from rain, why are they essentially absent from contempo
architecture?
