Hi listers, I have a question about my parallel to USB cable. On a HP machine running win XP It has connected via USB a multi functional system (printer/fax/copier) The machine has no parallel ports or serial ports. I wanted to add a ZEBRA Label maker replacing the parallel cord with a parallel to usb The instructions said I do not need the installation CD for the cord as the files are part of XP This is true as I tried putting the install cd in and the machine , it told me that there was nothing to install as some file was already there. So then with the Zebra on I plugged the parallel in and then the USB part to computer--computer did not detect anything I ran the install software for zebra and selected the location as USB. Problem is when you look at either of these 2 printers by right clicking and checking properties, the names of both printers appear under usb 001. If I select the ZEBRA to print to , it still prints to the MFS. I even tried putting the usb cords in the reverse order to no avail. This MFS even appears in the device manager under the USB information ( with a dot 4 next to it). I know noramlly printers do not appear in there The properties in the printer give you a check box if you want to make it lpt, serial, usb, etc, and this MFS appear under both usb and dot 4. How can I get the ZEBRA not to be sharing and to have the stuff print to it ? I have subsequently read a PDF from Beklin ( though that was not my brenad of adapter cable) and it called for saying LPT2. I know I tried both LPT1 and USB to no avail, don't recall if machine gave me an LPT2 option (or perhaps that was part of software). I do not know if unplugging the MFS from the usb will allow me to print to ZEBRA ( I had not tried that). Help please!
