The stingray was underneath and the tail came up and stabbed him in the chest.  He pulled it out an bled.  I seen the story on the internet and it was his cameraman (for 15 years) who was telling what happened.  I agre with you Phil.  It got him right in the heart.  and I believe he bled out. I was really heart broken.  Steve was one of my favorite people.  I also seen a sad thing on the animal planet.  When he bought his son out to show him off he had him blessed by Buddah nuns.  I put his family and the zoo on our prayer list for salvation if they need it.
