90% sure that the WinXP disk from another computer (unless it is also an 
HP OEM disk) will not work with the product key on the HP Pavillion. 
You may want to try talking with HP and ordering a replacement set of 
CDs for the machine.  Unfortunately, that will probably take a few weeks 
based on my experience with another vendor.
