My neighbour had a hissy fit and threw out a Packard Bell Club 60 which, thanks to TSG over the years,. I have managed to get working again. I wish to pass it it on to a deserving cause, but this rather limited machine does need some improvements. (as long as it don't cost much!!)
I want to add a spare CD/RW module to the existing DVD reader and have a couple of questions:-
a) The power supply is rated at 145W. Can I calculate if there is the required capacity and what would happen if it didn't have it? What are the indicators of insufficient power? There are additional and unused power line/sockets.
b) The 8.5Gb HD is situated too far from the CD/RW housing to be able to use the standard IDE cable for both devices. At present, the HD is the only device on IDE 1 and has no jumper settings. Can I use the IDE channel 2 for both CD/RW and DVD player and, if so, which device should be set as master.
I think I need to do this in order to rescue about 2.5Gb of data on the HD to return to my neighbour who bought a new Dell. (or has anybody got a better solution?)
c) How do I get into the BIOS? Which Key? The m/b is GA-6MMW. Is it F2???
d) How do I get into Safe Mode? I've pressed everything I can think of.....
My neighbour is an attractive blonde so I'm looking for brownie points.
