I would recommend a relatively simple paint chip color match. Take a chip of
paint, try to get it from an area protected from the sun, remove the full
depth of the paint, scrape the paint edge at an angle with an Xacto knife to
maximize the visible color below the surface then put it under a 30X
microscope (I bought a $6 hand held unit with built in light from Radio
Shack a few years ago) then match the original color to a color fan deck
from another manufacturer.

Subject: [BP] Devoe

Friend owns 5 story tenement on 73rd and Columbus. Painted it purple with
aqua trim back in the swinging '70's. Building included in Landmark
district in 1990's. You think it sounds tacky but it is much much better
than 90% of the ultra-boring "restorations" in the area.

Friend not opposed to changing color, but under Landmarks rules it is much,
much easier to repaint same exact color. However, Devoe out of business,
and he wants to repaint original 1970's color, not match to current faded
color.

He reports Devoe out of business. What is process of conversion from known
paint spec from old Devoe paint color?
