Thanks, Andy NATIONAL EXPERTS SOUGHT FOR NEW ORLEANS HISTORIC ROOFING ISSUES CONFERENCE CALL In anticipation of numerous applications for new roofs after Katrina, the Vieux Carre (French Quarter) Commission will hold a special ad hoc meeting on Friday, January 6th, tentatively around noontime primarily to gather advice on the use of synthetic slate as a substitute roofing material for natural slate. Of larger interest to the committee is the development of standards/guidelines for determining the appropriateness and durability of new synthetic roofing materials as they appear on the market or are introduced to new markets. The VCC greatly desires the participation of the following experts would join via conference call: -Materials science, to give guidance on the sales claims vs. real science issue. -Skilled preservation tradespeople. -Other related preservation professionals.
