I have also read on this list that the drive should be put into a plastic bag to prevent moisture damage.
(Probably before and after it is in the freezer.)  I have not personally done this.

I've had drives that wouldn't turn start to turn, but never have
recovered any data.
Overnight in the freezer is the usual recommendation, and some say 24
hours.
