Dear Friends,

I have had some emails from some of our readers inquiring as to why The Independent has not been out over the past week. Well, we are having serious printing problems right now. Since the departure of former MD Sheriff Bojang, we have been informed by the Daily Observer Press that they can no longer print the paper.

Our traditional printers, the Ahmaddiyya press, also told us they are not sure they can continue printing the paper. Pap Saine of The Point says their press needs an overhaul and is unable to print The Independent in addition to their paper. We believe the concerns of The Point and Ahmaddiyya are legitimate. As is the concern of the few other private presses in Banjul whom we have approached.

We are doing our best to find an altermnative way of keeping The Independent alive. Howver, there is only so much that we can do. If anyone has any ideas about possible solutions to this problem, please send me a private email at this address. Thank you all.

Best regards,
Baba
