Intel has an "Optimized Install" page posted for every one of it's
individual chipsets. They are all pretty much identical, but you would want
to make sure that your chipset doesn't have some anomalies

For example, here is the page for the 865

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d865gvhz/sb/cs-001497-prd1704.htm

When doing a new install, with a Intel Chipset, probably also true for
other chipsets,

1) Install OS
2) if installing Windows 2000 install Service Pack 4
3) Install the latest chipset Drivers
4) Install the latest version of Direct X
5) Install the video drivers
6) Install other drivers starting with application accelerator if there is
one provided

>any and all other drivers ( snd, lan, mdm, etc.)

>loading in this order will ensure the best performace for your video card.
>If that was not the order followed, then you may want to wipe and reload.
