This thread may start quite a discussion, but here are some of my own experiences and comments from them. You are not likely to see any great performance improvement from SATA vs. IDE, nor will you see a really noticeable improvement from going to a RAID 0 setup. There is an article on the web that I found discussing this and showing some real-life performance measurements. The result was that the speed improvement will not be something you will likely notice (10% better?). Unfortunately, I can't find the link at the moment. You might find the following link of some help - it compares RAID devices: http://tech-report.com/reviews/2002q4/ideraid/index.x?pg=1 I am currently running a RAID 0 on my boot drive. The results are underwhelming, but it is already setup and I have not yet had time to change it. Something to think about. In a RAID 0 setup, if one drive (or controller) fails, you lost access to both drives! For me, the main benefit of the RAID 0 is that I get one very large drive instead of two drives. Others prefer to have separate drives, so it is a matter of personal preference. For your 3.5 to 5.25 mounting adaptor, here is a link to a fancy one: http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/searchdetail.asp?T1=161+0414 Here is one from e-bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=51064&item=3478864106 &rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V Peter ----------------------------------------------- The NoSpin Group [log in to unmask] > -----Original Message----- > I am trying to figure out how to mount a 3.5" device > in a 5.25" bay.
