You can take the battery off the radio and put it back on and the radio will come back on for a few seconds, enough for you to shut it off, I just plug it in, the radio comes on and I shut it off plugged in. On stuff like that the manual some times doesn't specify things like that but mine's lived over 2 years now that way.
