Hello to All!,

I have a problem that has just come up in my email program. I use Mozilla email client,

// using try..catch to handle empty useragents and other cases where the regex fails to apply try { document.getElementById("mozver").appendChild(document.createTextNode(navigator.userAgent)); document.getElementById("mozlink").firstChild.appendData(navigator.userAgent.match(/rv:([^;)]+)/)[1]); } catch (e) {} Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031030

operating system is Windows XP Home Edition, and like to use gifs in my email messages to friends... I have NEVER had a problem using them and they insert 'RIGHT INTO' the message as I am writing it, sort of like reading a book with pictures!  Attachments can't do justice to the notes, like a gif RIGHT at the moment it is being spoke of can...

Well, now whatever the 'last gif' is that I insert, it will change all of the other gifs in the note to THAT one too... Here is an example: I will put three 'different' cat gifs in this note right now, and all 3 will be changed to whatever the last one is that I post... NOTE: have a feeling after looking at the digest and the format, that you may not get to even see the following gifs. You didn't.  Got the following when I tried to send my note:

it only contains attachments which are disallowed by the list configuration.
So, if it would help you to see them, just email me and I can send you a sample of how they look after sending...  Just use the same subject line so that I don't accidentally throw your note out thinking it is SPAM..!!!  So many viruses going around these days, you can't be too careful!

Do you have any suggestions to try to 'fix' whatever is making this happen???  No one had TOUCHED anything on MY COMPUTER prior to this occurring... Sent a note one day that traveled to my friend in Australia just fine with multiple gifs (easily 20 or more!)... Next day sent her a note, and WHAM all gifs were changed to the very last one that I used... I touched nothing to make this happen! Hubby and son have tweaked this and that trying to fix it, but nothing will stop this 'ending gif repeating itself' problem... HELP!!!!!  I LOVE to use gifs, and this has ruined the FUN of what the other person can see while reading my cute jokes...

I'd sign this with one of my cute siggys, but then the whole note would be filled with it!!!

With My Thanks for Help you Can Send My Way!,  June

Whoops... Have since added some important PS's ... Hubby had me throw out a lot of my saved email and notes of interest & gifs that I could 'live without', thinking that maybe I had SO MUCH in here it was clogging something up. I did that, and nothing changed. I do have a LOT of gifs, but I have the space for it too... Bought myself a new computer JUST SO THAT I would have the room! I am currently about to try learning PSP7, so gifs will be in my life for a LONG TIME TO COME...  I have SEEN my computer two times recently say it was 'compressing' my system,  so don't know how that plays into that picture but just wanted to mention it..??

Also, this was a note from another computer friend on what he thought we should do... We did the following and it didn't help either...

What I would do is to empty your cache, cookies, temp files and your temp internet files. I can't tell you for sure how to do that in mozilla since I don't use it, but I do know that several other people I know who use Mozilla also have trouble with gif's and other image files in their email. It seems to be a common problem and other than the suggestion above I'm not sure what would help with mozilla.

When I look at the properties of the 3 work for tuna gifs they all have different names so it appears that it is using the correct file name but picking up something that is stuck in one of the files I mentioned above. Give that a try and see what happens.

We also tried setting up a NEW MOZILLA mail box too, to see if it was something weird with my old one... Didn't help... Tried 3 gifs again, and the LAST ONE's image came through 3 times > still with each bearing the correct address when clicked on...

Should I set up a new mail client?  I could use outlook if need be... Just not familiar with that, as my son who originally set me up, did so with Mozilla as that is the one he uses... I just like an 'easy to use' email system, and mozilla is that... I have never had a problem using gifs in a note till now, so really don't think it is mozilla's fault.

Also, my son downloaded his PSP7 copy for me to play with... Just in the last few days, THAT ICON is in my file with my gifs... I truly don't remember it being there before? Will have to ask him when he gets home! Is there any way that when playing with PSP7, I could have flipped the wrong switch/setting and caused something to happen with my personal gif use in my email???  I've also been playing with the beginning screens PAINT program, ie., where you click on START, then programs, to Accessories, then select PAINT, and write on a siggy that way, ending with SAVING IT AS to my gif file...  Could some option I selected while doing those have caused this grief??? I have been doing those for a few weeks though, and this had not occurred until just the other day...

I'm just trying to think of ANYTHING new that I have done... Have shared gifs on my email notes with friends, but hubby said he doesn't think their copying off of an email could have caused this problem... And, no virus was found in my system either... We ran the gifs too...

I use Norton-Anti Virus, and the updates are automatic... Has been doing a GREAT job of catching all of the recent bugs!

Thanks again for ANY HELP you can offer me...!!!  You all are my ONLY HOPE... Hubby said he doesn't have a clue what is wrong!!!!!  Always With My Best, June
