Letter received today, brown paper in folio sheet form, artistic deckled
edges, decorated with huge butterflies in Japanese-style colors:

"Dear Christopher --

"I have seen your by-line for years, and for the longest time I have been
meaning to write to inquire if you are the Christopher N...[balance of name
deleted] Gray I had known in [country deleted] at a summer program at the
University of [deleted]. Of I remember you had always said you were going to be an
architectural historian. Reading Streetscapes weekly makes me think, of course,
that it is you, and that your plan did come to fruition.

"So, why am I writing now? Can't be sure, but it kind seems like a nice idea
to just check out someone from the past. I still have wonderful memories of
my trip to [name of country deleted] two summers ago with my husband and two
daughters to attend the Fringe Festival.

"I still have the note you wrote me many years ago, to accompany the necklace
you once sent.

"It was so many years ago, but certainly a wonderful summer, with great
memories. Would love to hear more about what you're up to and how you're doing.

"I have two girls - 20 and 17 [details deleted]. My husband is a librarian
at [deleted].

"Enjoy your articles, so would very much like to know if it is really you who
write them. Should you be a different Christopher Gray, I hope you will
forget I wrote. Should you be the right Christopher, I would love to hear from
you."
